Recovering from jet lag….

…..but these days only slowly ! I think I was mostly up and running after a good nights sleep in years past, but now clearly I take a little longer ! I had to finally get up when housekeeping rang to ask if I wanted them to clean ! So I made an effort and readied myself for a trip to hunt down a pharmacy to buy the forgotten,  yet vitally important stick of deodorant ! That done I made my way back to the hotel and went to buy some groceries for my diabetic store then drooped back to my room clutching the free, corporate cup, of very indifferent Americano coffee ! Being free we all decide to take it obviously.  I decided to try another supermarket rather than M&S as the prices were so extortionate it will serve only to provide stuff I really cannot find elsewhere. I went to USelect, a hybrid East meets West shop, strangely bedecked with Tesco goods alongside unknown types of vegetables and shell fish of other planetary origins ! It suited my purpose though, some salad goods together with milk and yogurt was all I needed.

I met up with my British colleague Ben in the evening, we were both wandering aimlessly about the area looking distinctly as if we were trying to stay awake….which of course we were….and stood on the pavement chatting in a desultory manner about where the best laundry was !! It was good to see a fellow worker however. We were both very relieved to tell each other how neither of us could actually read the transport ledger in our festival files. It is clearly meant for those who have never, nor will ever need to visit an optician, and can read the bible, hand written on the back of a postage stamp type of font. He, who is 25 years my junior, was as relieved as I was to find we both had the same problem. He was having his zoom meeting today in his hotel room and was going to bring the matter up !! If it hadn’t been so worrying, largely due to travel fatigue I suspect, it would have been funny !

My room is in order, my files are neatly sorted, I am ready to go.

The longest green beans in the world

Mushrooms too….very tall
